August - peak season ends mid month, days start to get shorter, Alaska State fair 19-5 September

Late September- a little chillier, smaller crowds, lower prices, the leaves start to change

but it can be rainy

Northern Lights- best  time to see the northern lights is Late August through Early April.  Shorter days and much colder
